Opioid Treatment Services

As of 2023, Northern Berkshire Pediatrics will now be offering medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services to patients with opioid use disorder by a certified provider.

Substance use disorder counseling
We provide evidence-based substance use disorder counseling that can help patients explore their substance use and how it may be impacting their lives. Depending on the patient’s goals and needs, these visits may focus on making change, developing coping skills, achieving goals or other areas in which patients may want help.

Parent / Caregiver guidance
Patients may present for a confidential evaluation without their parents. Because substance use is often a source of family stress, patients may invite their parents to take advantage of parent guidance counseling sessions. These visits focus on increasing caregivers understanding of adolescent substance use, developing plans for supporting patients, and strategies for self-care.

Medication-assisted treatment
We offer medications such as buprenorphine (Suboxone) and Naltrexone/Vivitrol that can help treat alcohol and opioid use disorders. If a parent/guardian/patient is concerned that the patient may have a problem with alcohol or opioids (prescription pain medications, heroin, etc), these medications may help.

Referral Support
Should it be determined that the patient may be in need of a higher level of care than this service can offer or may be in need of services we do not provide, we will help patients and families identify and access services that will meet their needs. This may include referrals to individual and family therapy, psychiatry services, more intensive outpatient or residential treatment programs, etc.
